Franchise in Madden 22 is getting some long-overdue upgrades like skill trees for coaches, improved weekly strategy, and a better UI with the new hub. We’ll share deep dives on Madden NFL 22 features, Title Updates, Ultimate Team details, and more over the next several months.
Coaching carousel and skill treesFor years on PS2 Madden successfully implemented not only head coaching moves, but also offensive and defensive coordinator movement across the league. Incredibly, it was never brought back on subsequent generations. That has to change.
“Like everyone else I have been expecting it for years and no luck,” writes melodicmarc on Reddit. “What we need is very similar to what was in NCAA 2014. Offensive and defensive coordinators, [and] a coaching carousel where the good ones move up and get hired. Also [as an advanced wish] when designing this system, there should be a plan to integrate positional coaches into the system as well.
“Just as important is the skill tree,” he continues. “The current XP system for coaches needs to be replaced with a skill tree. This skill tree should give in-game bonuses to stats, player development bonuses, morale bonuses, player retention bonuses, free agent bonuses etc. NFL Head Coach 08 did an awesome job with this and a system that mimics that would be ideal.”

What we know about Face of the Franchise: United We Rise
While Madden has dabbled with Face of the Franchise in the past, it hasn’t had a lot of replay ability. That should change this year.
Now gamers can choose a story as a quarterback, running back, or a linebacker. A new Player Class and progression system gives gamers a chance to choose skills, ratings and specific attributes that offer more personalization for your avatar.
Madden 22 official gameplay trailer
Also made public by EA Sports as part of the official cover athletes release, we have our first look at actual Madden 22 gameplay. The official Madden 22 gameplay trailer was posted to EA Sports social media accounts and has fans excited to get their hands on the title.
The gameplay looks slick, with sneak peeks into the new playcalling system as well as franchise mode. And of course, centred mostly around superstars Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes. Though there were cameos from other household names like Derrick Henry and Stefon Diggs.
When you begin Face of the Franchise: United We Rise, you are placed in the shoes of a prospect prepping for the NFL Draft. The game will take you back to your player’s most memorable college football moments that shaped your career so far.
